Overview
The game consists of 8 thematic groups—such as Fauna, Flora, Mythical Love Figures, and more—each containing 4 symbols drawn from different cultures and time periods. Every symbol is represented on two card layers: one opaque card with historical and cultural background information, and one transparent overlay that contains the symbol itself. As players match symbols from the same group, they gradually complete small infographic units. Once a full group is collected, the four parts combine to create a large, unified visual map of that group’s theme—revealing how love is expressed through recurring forms and symbolic systems across the world.

The Challenge
The challenge was to design a system that is both educational and emotional, translating research into an interactive, visual, and tactile experience. It had to organize a large amount of historical and cultural content in a way that invites discovery and stays intuitive. A further challenge was to balance aesthetic elegance with information design, making each symbol resonate both graphically and contextually.
The Solution
The game was structured around dual-layered cards to separate symbol and meaning—allowing players to first visually engage, then intellectually connect. Each symbol was carefully researched, illustrated, and categorized according to theme and origin. The use of transparency, group logic, and modular infographics transforms the gameplay into a reflective, pattern-based experience. The design emphasizes cultural inclusivity, graphic clarity, and symbolic richness. A consistent visual identity across the cards supports both intuitive play and visual storytelling.
The Result
With Heart and Mind acts as a poetic and interactive archive of global love symbols—inviting players to explore how love has been visually expressed across traditions and times. The layered gameplay fosters discovery, pattern recognition, and emotional connection. Ultimately, the card game itself becomes a symbol of love—a form of shared narrative and mutuality. The project earned recognition as one of the shortlisted works for the Fedrigoni Top Award ( Milan)—selected for its craftsmanship in paper and narrative design. It was also included on the international design list of the Information is Beautiful Awards, celebrated for its clarity in infographic storytelling and global cultural insight.
