As Lead Creative, I was responsible for the full redesign of the organization’s visual identity—from strategic foundations to detailed design systems. The Challenge
The key challenge was to create a visual identity that could reflect the dual character of UIV Urban Innovation Vienna GmbH: as a data-driven expert institution and as a forward-facing, accessible communicator of urban transformation. At its core, the brand needed to express Vienna’s role as a leading city in climate action, innovation, and participation. The rebranding also had to meet a complex set of formal expectations. This meant carefully balancing aesthetic freedom with institutional clarity, and translating a diverse set of values into a unified, future-oriented identity with both national and international relevance.
The Solution
I developed a modular and scalable visual system rooted in clarity, rhythm, and structure. A flexible grid, vibrant yet professional color palette, and precise typographic principles became the backbone of the new identity. The rebranding included a refreshed logo, editorial and presentation templates, iconography, social media formats, and signage. Each element was designed to ensure consistent communication across all departments and public channels.
The Result
The new identity established UIV Urban Innovation Vienna GmbH as a credible and future-oriented force in the public innovation landscape. It increased both internal cohesion and external visibility, enabling the organization to speak with one clear voice—whether addressing political institutions, international partners, or the general public.
