Overview
This sculpture was developed as part of my exploration of organic form, symbolism, and cultural memory. Using applewood as a medium, I combined the raw physicality of chainsaw carving with the intimacy of hand-painting, merging two contrasting techniques. The three blossoms represent stages of becoming, latent, unfolding, and open—serving as metaphors for womanhood, fertility, and transformation. Inspired by Spanish floral traditions and personal experiences, the piece reflects on cycles of nature and identity, creating a tangible link between cultural heritage and contemporary artistic practice.

The Challenge
The main challenge lay in transforming a heavy, raw block of wood into a delicate symbolic form without losing its material vitality. Working with a chainsaw demanded precision and control in a medium that resists fine detailing, while the hand-painted finish had to complement rather than overpower the sculptural structure. Balancing strength and fragility, and giving abstract symbolism a physical presence, became the central task of the work.
